Mini Inverters Add-on

by

UPDATE: We had an issue with one of these inverters where it ruined the charging units of 2 different electric toothbrushes we had plugged into them, therefore, I removed both of these from Usain. I was able to get by with what I needed for outlets by adding additional USB ports by the galley and just using the outlet I already had added in the electronics cabinet.

The Boldt’s Volta Power System includes a large inverter to convert the Lithium DC battery power to AC. When not connected to shore power, the Volta inverter is necessary to power the air conditioner, microwave, induction stove, and the standard 110-volt outlets. Unfortunately, just having the inverter on draws additional battery power even when not using the larger appliances or outlets. That’s where smaller inverters come into play. They allow for less power hungry items that rely on AC power to be used even when the main inverter is off. We have two of them in Usain — one mounted by the kitchen sink and the other in the electronics bay. They work great but the fan in them in louder than I would like. They include USB ports but I wish that at least one of them was 5 amps for faster charging.
