Smoke testing in software engineering is a testing method to ensure that the software is ready for the next testing phase. Lisa and I performed our first major Usain smoke test prior to taking Usain out on the road.
The first step was to de-winterize Usain for the very first time. Since it was delivered in January when it was freezing outside, Usain came with RV antifreeze in all of his water pipes. We’ve had a nice day here and there over the last couple of weeks so it was finally time for the de-winterization process. After watching a few YouTube videos I was able to tackle the job in a few hours (and only 3 trips to the hardware store!).
The next step was to test all of the major systems including plumbing, electrical, solar, batteries, and the appliances. Everything passed with flying colors.
The final major test was to try out the bed to ensure it would be comfortable enough for a good night sleep. For this, Lisa I spent the night in Usain in *drumroll* our driveway. We both slept through the night. Success!
