There’s a cannon ball where???

by

We visited the Missouri towns of Richmond, the county seat for Ray County and Lexington, the county seat for Lafayette. Small towns with beautiful squares around their courthouses are fun to walk through. Lexington has some addition Civil War history where their courthouse gained a cannon ball lodged in the top of a column. We also walked a couple of blocks to the Anderson House which was used as a Union hospital at that time, and suffered damage when the Missouri militia captured it. Lexington has a row of beautiful mansions that have all been preserved on the road into town and has several streets of antique and gift shops. I bought a book that is a collection of writings from Thomas Jefferson in one shop with a super friendly and knowledgeable owner. With all of these place names, we felt like we were back East:)
