We drove into the Adirondack Mountain region of New York today and it is so beautiful! The outcropping rock we drove by looked like the shale we saw in MN near Duluth and it was very mossy and seeping water drips/runs down the face. The roads are tree-lined and follow along creeks, rivers and lakes. There is no drought here.

Our overnight spot is in Point Comfort Campground along Piseco Lake. This is the first campground to ask for proof of rabies vaccination for the cats. We had to drive a couple of miles down to the next campground to check in. They entered the vaccination expiration dates into their computer; I filled out a pet info form and signed the campsite form in triplicate. Buying a house was easier-ha ha!

Our evening stroll turned into a 5-mile hike, with two-miles of that being wet, muddy, rocky slope. I had noticed the Echo Cliffs trailhead on our way to check in. I told Tony it was just “a little ways” from our campground. Oops, it was 1.5-miles away; we had no cell service or map to check before walking there. Then the trailhead board gave the trail distance at 0.65-miles. That is a lie—it’s a full mile, one-way. It was fun, though, and had a gorgeous view of the area at the top.

I had the small window open to hear the Loons in the night. I love hearing nighttime nature sounds. We had gentle rain at one point and I turned off the ceiling fan. I always read on my Kindle to help me get back to sleep.
