We drove through the highest-producing oil field, the Permian Basin, in the US today. We saw big Crude Oil tanks, oil refineries, drilling platforms, power-lines, and trucks carrying all kinds of equipment and products. We passed temporary worker housing, many of which were covered RV parks. There were a few gas stations and food trucks for these workers, but not much in the way of towns for off-hours entertainment. An incredible amount of litter, whole tires, and tire remains lined Highway-285. With big oil companies here, we had excellent cell service in this desert area that would be in the middle of nowhere without the industry. This is a huge energy corridor!
