WeatherBug warned us of high winds creating a dust storm today. It started about 9:30 this morning. It looked foggy out and the mountains were no longer visible as we pulled out of the winery parking lot. Thankfully we didn’t have far to travel as Alamogordo is just down the road from Tularosa.

We stopped at McGinn’s PistachioLand for some flavored pistachios on our way to the Alamogordo KOA for our week’s stay. It was incredibly windy, and we had to drive slowly, under the speed limit, to maintain control of our tall van. Visibility was low and it looked like a dirty blizzard. This pistachio farm is right along the highway, and has all kinds of merch for pistachio lovers and more. A worker in the parking lot greeted us with “Welcome to sunny New Mexico,” then shook his head and laughed. The pistachio statue is a dedication to the founder of the farm.
