While we were home in between trips, my dad visited from Colorado. He drove so he could also visit his farm in Missouri, and see some in-laws, too.
He spent his first night in Hastings, Nebraska, the town where I was born. He took pictures of what’s left of the RADAR station (625th RAD, SAGE – semiautomatic ground environment) he worked at while in the Air Force, the hospital, and the house where we lived when I was born. I was two years old when we moved away.

We visited the butterfly garden near the visitor center at Saylorville Reservoir to have a picnic supper and observe the flowers and goldfish. We found bugs!

Just a side note here, Tony and I walked on the path around Saylorville Lake before Dad arrived and took this picture that recorded the high water mark earlier this summer. There was flooding north in the water shed with many Iowa communities affected this summer.
