The Gallatin National Forest is really large, and we will spend one more night at a campground there. Hyalite Canyon is south of Bozeman with Hood Creek being one of several campgrounds along the Hyalite Creek and Hyalite Reservoir. The canyon road is a scenic drive that starts in a neighborhood in Bozeman, then continues up in elevation into wilderness.

This is the kind of campsite that soothes one’s soul. It’s very quiet with nature sounds and no other campsite in view from our large spot. The reservoir is low right now which is probably to make room for snow melt next spring.
I did meet a neighboring camper on my way to the vault toilet down the road. He is from Germany, here traveling alone for two weeks in a small rented van. He asked to borrow some cooking oil for his fish. He laughed when I asked if he had caught it himself, and said he was no fisherman. What an adventurer! I don’t want to travel alone here, let alone in another country. He sure liked our Mercedes:)
We took several short walks between rains; the last one down the shore line we could see the next rain squall coming in. We didn’t make it back dry, but the sleeting downpour waited until we got back to Usain.
