We headed southwest to Twin Falls, Idaho for a two-day stay at the KOA just north of the Snake River Canyon. The city of Twin Falls is built on the south side of the canyon and has developed right up to the south rim. We finally passed through some farmland to see potatoes and corn and maybe sugar beets growing. We think we saw sugar beets being harvested. Idaho is famous for potatoes, so it was nice to finally see the farmland. The Snake River Canyon is incredibly deep and beautiful in the Twin Falls area.

I’m sure Americans close to us in age remember Evel Knievel and his attempt to jump across the Snake River Canyon. His ramp and some of the cement supports to his launch platform are still here. There is a public access dirt road next to a gated community to see this landmark. We took pictures then had to find footage of this jump online. I would suggest watching the Discovery Channel film, and not the History Channel. The HC had shaky footage and some weird commentary by a promoter. Watch it for the weirdness factor, but DC had a more informative view of the event. We both remember seeing the jump attempt on TV.

There is a paved path along the south rim that looks pretty long on Google Maps. We ended up walking an unplanned 1.5 miles before we knew it. The scenery is so gorgeous, and this trail does connect to the Shoshone Falls State Park, which is where we are headed next.
