Our planned stop for Saturday night was the town of Rolling Hills, Wyoming. They list their City Hall as a Harvest Host, which sounded interesting as a stopping off point before heading to Curt Gowdy State Park. Unfortunately, we were too late getting our request in and so other plans had to be made.

The last time we were in Casper we stayed at Gruner Brothers Brewing. Since they take last minute requests we decided to take advantage of their parking lot again for the night. There was a big event (marathon?) when we stayed here 2 years ago and the place was very crowded. This year, not so much. We enjoyed drinks (a beer for me and a wine for Lisa) and apps (pretzel bites and chocolate lava cake) while playing NYT Connections on my iPad and listening to an Irish band named Casper Irish Session.

A member of the band came over to talk with us after they had wrapped up for the evening. She asked if we were one of the “travelers”, as this is a very popular Harvest Hosts stop (there were 6 or 7 RVs in the parking lot for the night).

Earlier in the day we visited the Fort Caspar Museum.

The Fort Caspar Museum is spelled “Fort Caspar,” while the city of Casper is spelled “Casper.” The difference in spelling stems from a misspelling in the army order that renamed the fort in 1865, with the city name reflecting that original error. The fort and museum were later reconstructed and named “Fort Caspar” to reflect the correct spelling of the namesake, Caspar Collins.  — Google AI

It was a small, but nice museum with a fort reproduction out back. It was raining at the time so we had to dodge raindrops between the various buildings.
