Goodbye Ohio, Hello West Virginia

by

We spent our final morning at Hockings State Park by taking a nice hike out to Rose Lake (same lake as yesterday, but from a different direction). After that, it was time to do laundry. You know what they don’t show you in those van life videos where everything in the van is all nice and tidy? It’s where you store your dirty laundry from your clean clothes. The time comes when the closet that holds the laundry bag can’t quite close. We’re close to that point.

Hike to Rose Lake

Do I golf???

Wanting to split the remaining miles between Logan, Ohio and Front Royal, West Virginia, we searched for a place to stay for Friday night. On a weekend the pickings are slim in this part of the country but we did manage to find a golf course — Bel Meadows Golf Club — on the Harvest Hosts site. This is our second time staying at a golf course for the night. The guy running the place asked if I golf. I laughed and said no. Surprisingly, he laughed as well and said he didn’t golf either. It was just his job.

A Tasty Bargain

Since we don’t golf, the restaurant was closed, and the pro shop didn’t have anything of use to us…we ended up ordering a couple of drinks and a bag of Cheetos from the bar. The same guy was our bartender. Two drinks, chips, and tip came to a whopping $10. I guess the recent inflation hasn’t made its way Clarksburg, West Virginia yet.
