Another reason for opting to stay at the Nashville KOA was that they offered a flexible and affordable shuttle to the downtown area. Our research told us it would be a very bad idea to drive Usain to such a congested area, let alone find a place to park. After ensuring the cats were taken care of for the day — food, water, A/C, etc. — we boarded the shuttle bus in front of the KOA office and made our way across the city.

Our shuttle driver dropped us off in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame and said one block up was Broadway Street with eight blocks of bars for our entertainment. He was right; the place was hopping at 10:30 in the morning, and got progressively more crowded as the day went on.

We were able to see the Nissan Titan stadium from a pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River, and see the construction of the new stadium right next to it. The current one will be demolished as the new one opens in 2027. So much for parking while this transition is happening. Fortunately, Nashville seems to have good public transportation along with ride shares and Waymo, which is just starting up here.

Broadway was filled with party buses, peddle bars, and general traffic. The suggested uniform for women of all ages was shorts or skirts with cowboy boots. I was quite comfortable in my Chaco sandals — best shoes in the world — but was very much alone in my choice. I also had on the wrong kind of hat:)

We found a bar for lunch with two performers to entertain us.

After lunch we walked to the capitol building. Construction prevented a close approach, but the hill has an awesome view looking out over the city. We found a statue of Alvin C. York here, too. We were glad to have learned about him already in the CCC museum two days ago.

Overall, downtown Nashville is very busy with people and activities and music all over. The architecture looks fresh and modern with lots of glass and interesting shapes. This is a very vibrant downtown.
