From the Valley of Fire to a Winery

by

Can’t say enough good things about the Valley of Fire State Park as we leave it behind. Before we do though, we had a couple of more hikes to do as well as a few more stops to see the remaining points of interests.

Petroglyphs

Seven Sisters

Lone Rock and CCC-built Cabins

Clark Memorial

Elephant Rock

Blue Point Spring

The road leading out of the park around Lake Mead was a very scenic drive with a long, slow, winding road with various landforms and wildflowers beside the road. We stopped for lunch at a roadside parking area called Blue Point Spring. We took a short hike up to the spring and followed the creek that eventually flows into Lake Mead. At one point it appears it was lined with palm trees but only 5 remain today as a sort of oasis.

Wildcatter Winery

Our stay for the night is the Wildcatter Winery outside of Kingman, Arizona. We went inside and tasted a few of their offerings and purchased a couple of bottles to take back to Usain for the night.
