We crossed over the state line into Oregon yesterday, which means that Usain gets another state sticker.

Friday was a busy day full of chores, travel, and as always, a bit of fun. We had an early morning conference call with our Iowa friends, Tony & Nancy, and the Irish tour guide that will be driving the four of us around parts of Ireland later this summer. After that, it was off to the Wal-Mart in Crescent City for some needed shopping. We were then back on the road up the 101 by the end of the morning.

Along the way up north, we had our first elk encounter of this trip. The cow pictured below wandered out into the road in front of us causing us to have to brake for her to cross. She gave us a good stare down and then was on her way. This was called Elk Valley – perfect to see her here.

Harris Beach State Park

We stopped mid-journey for lunch and a long break at Harris Beach State Park, just over the Oregon state line. Another sandy grey beach with lots of sea stacks and marine life to investigate.

Oceanside RV Park

We made our way into Gold Beach, Oregon late afternoon where we are staying at the Oceanside RV Park. It’s a privately run park that abuts the estuary where the Rogue River flowing from Crater Lake (that we’ll be visiting later during this trip) empties into the Pacific. We are here for 2 nights so there should be time to explore the surrounding area, but first, we need to catch up on laundry at the park’s laundromat.
