Making Tracks to Fort Collins

With daytime temperatures reaching 100+ degrees through theses parts, and Thursday’s appointment for the van, we put in some longer days of travel. No real fun stops or hikes, but plenty of scenery in this part of the country and a good audio book to listen to, which help the miles go by quicker.

We completed the Journey Through Time scenic byway in Oregon and made our way through Idaho and into Utah, going the I-84 route north of Salt Lake City. Ugh, back to Interstate travel. We spent the night between the long drives at the Como Springs Resort in Morgan, Utah. Nothing fancy and “resort” is a big stretch, particularly when the shower rooms were no longer in use, but we just needed an overnight spot and surprisingly, there aren’t any Harvest Hosts in this area. The Weber River in the campground looked pretty full and had a cool, narrow bridge over it. Apparently this campground is what is left of a historic resort built in 1889.

The next morning we prepared the cats for another long day of travel and arrived into Fort Collins in the late afternoon. After 6 weeks of traveling and numerous long hikes, I promptly wrenched my back while unloading stuff from the van into Lisa’s dad’s house. I was in a lot of pain for the next 12 hours, but thankfully we’ll have a few days here in Fort Collins for me to recover.
