We really like the dual-pane acrylic windows that Winnebago installed in the Boldt, with a couple of exceptions. The built-in window props only have a limited number of settings and none that allows for the windows to be open only a couple of inches. This is especially problematic for the window on the back passenger side as the sliding door will crash into it if is left propped open when opening the sliding door. I’ve read more than just a few posts on campervan forums of the resulting expense from this issue. The other issue is wind. Often times, we’ve experienced a gust of window catching a propped window and opening it enough to release the mechanism causing the window to fall shut. This is not ideal when we’re away from the van and the cats need the windows open for airflow.
While this mod is not an original idea of mine, I did create my own design solution and 3D printed a couple of custom window props to solve the problems mentioned above. It took me 5 tries to perfect my design, and one that I feel will provide a sturdier, more secure solution when it comes to wind gusts than other designs I’ve seen.
Below are a couple of different solutions that I saw on other sites that inspired me to create my own.

Below are pictures of my finished products. The primary difference in mine are “legs” that go on the inside and outside of the window frame to keep the wind from dislodging the prop. The driver’s side window prop allows for a slightly larger opening since there isn’t a sliding door on that side of the van.

When not in use, the window props are easily stored in the custom bed backets I created a few years ago.
