We enjoy both kayaking and cycling, but had to choose one of the other for our van life travels. We chose to take our cycles along — Lisa’s bike and my trike — and rent kayaks when the opportunity arises.

My internet search for a rack to accommodate both a bike and a trike resulted in only 2 choices, and one was out of stock at the time. So, I ordered this one from CycleSimplex and it turned out to be a good purchase.

I did have to modify the rack by shortening a couple of the extension rods and then had a friend down in Kansas shorten the hitch bar after we added a swing out hitch (see Swing Away Hitch Extension Add-on), but other than that it suits our needs. Probably the biggest drawback is that it adds several feet to our overall vehicle length, which impacts places where we can park.
