Can’t blame Winnebago on the need for this mod — this one’s on Mercedes. The center speaker on their Sprinter vans is notorious for being too loud with no way to reduce just the volume of it. The problem is well documented in the Sprinter-Forum. Here are links to some of the threads:
I tried a couple of the work-arounds including the supposed “fix” that is recommended by MB. Still not satisfied, I chose to add a switch to allow the center speaker to be on or off. We turn if off when listening to music and on when listening to a podcast. It wasn’t all that difficult to add, but did require some twisting and turning of this middle-aged body under the front dash to feed the wire and install the switch. I also botched up the hole for the switch so it sits a bit crooked. Someday I’ll fix that when it starts to bother me too much. 🙂
