A walk in the prairie

by

Off and on light rain showers were the weather report this morning, and I got caught in a shower on a walk. I was warm enough from walking that I wasn’t cold. The afternoon turned beautiful and was in the mid-70s. Finally, the great temps we’ve been looking for! Our afternoon hike was on a trail through the prairie, so you felt like you were walking through it without the itchy legs and ticks that would have accompanied a walk like that. They do lots of mowing and trail maintenance here. With the nearby river (Sheyenne) these leopard frogs are everywhere and jump across the trails in front of your feet. This trail arrived back at the demonstration farm (Sunne Farm) we saw yesterday, and we got an unexpected personal tour of the cabin, house and a Sears and Robuck barn from a park ranger. The cabin and house reminded me of the Dunnington Farm – similar in size and floor plan.
