Our first stop today was at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva along Lake Seneca. They actually have wine tasting right there in the visitor’s center! There are sooooo many wineries in the area it will be hard to choose in our brief time here. Put it on the revisit list:). Tony says we can buy some bottles here in the visitor’s center and call it done, but no…. We do enjoy a 4-mile walk along the lake before lunch.

I chose the Belhurst Castle and Winery for a visit before supper because they have a wine and cheese paired tasting that sounded interesting. It was a quick affair as they have a bar with no seats to do the tasting. We’ve not encountered that before—seems kind of “drink up and move along” but we did enjoy the samples and bought some cheese and wine to go. We enjoyed a glass while walking around the Waterloo KOA campsite near the water’s edge. We will spend two nights here.

I found these beauties growing near an oak tree at the winery. They are called Eastern American Jack-o’-lanterns and grow in clumps and get pretty big. They must be feeding on the buried roots of the tree.
