Porchvue Winery, Pennsylvania

by

We are spending the night at a Harvest Host site in western Pennsylvania, south of I-80. Our travel today was beautiful with the fall colors on full display. All driving in Pennsylvania has been scenic, and I-80 was no exception. Each bridge shows a gorgeous valley view that could induce people to pull over to see it. Good thing the “No Stopping on Bridge” signs are installed.

Following Google Maps, we came to the winery from the south, and were a little nervous about the narrow roads, though the drive was absolutely gorgeous. Would not recommend this drive for anything taller than we are—at ten feet, we were avoiding some tree branches and hoping there was no oncoming traffic with no place to pull over.

We knew the winery would be closed today, but we had permission to stay anyway. Disappointed to miss out on the wine and mead tasting, but we’ll try to get back in the future when they are open. They had a lovely, level parking spot out of the trees for Dishy and peacocks walking by to entertain the cats. It was a perfect spot with a lovely view, and we got in an evening walk down the country road.
