Hike in Ponchos

by

It started raining last night shortly after we got back to Usain from our showers and is still raining today. Time to don the water resistant hiking pants and boots and find the ponchos. We did the creek portion of the hike from yesterday to get a two-mile walk then returned to dry out. The creek has gotten feisty since yesterday. No tromping in it today.

We drove back to the lookout for some Internet time this afternoon. And, the rain stopped! When the sun came out for just a bit, several cars showed up to give us some company. The clouds were really scattered and hanging low in the valley which was really pretty and the pictures don’t do them justice. I also have “lovely” rain-soaked hair.

To avoid the right hairpin turn onto 154 at the end of World’s End Road, we turned left (which really isn’t a turn but a drive forward) to the camp’s beach area for a short walk to trade in a book at the library box by the park office. I really don’t know how trucks pulling long travel trailers or fifth-wheels or class-A campers make that right turn. We barely could do it with Usain. The campsites here are a bit short for big rigs anyway, so maybe they avoid this park. We only saw tents and small trailers.

Quite the hairpin right turn onto 154!
