Bathroom Door Track Repair

by

Since it’s just the two of us in Usain (and the fact that we keep the cats’ litter box in the bathroom) we rarely close the bathroom pocket door. However, I noticed a while back that it wasn’t plumb when closed. Figuring it was just out of level, I took down the panel in front of the track and quickly realized the entire side of the track that goes into the wall had fallen. After removing the track it was plain to see what had caused the failure. The pocket is such a narrow opening that it was impossible for the installer to insert a screw in the farthest point and the hole that could be reached with a long screwdriver was situated between 2 boards so it didn’t have much grip and gave way.

The Boldt’s Facebook group came to the rescue again. It seems this is another common problem for this model. Taking the advice of others with the same issue I applied some heavy duty cement glue to the track and then reattached it with heavier duty screws to grab more of the wood. It is now plumb and level and hopefully the glue will hold.
