We finished loading up clothes and food and cats by about 10:30, and then we were off to Emporia, Kansas, which is about 4.5 hours down the I-35 corridor. This year the weather is a bit warmer, so Tony filled the water tank which involves doing it twice, once to sanitize, in about 15 degrees windchill. He kept coming in to warm up and get sympathy points. Well earned – doing without water in the van is no fun when the bathroom and kitchen are useless. The tank heaters are working, and all temperatures along our route will be above freezing in the near future. So much better than last year!
Emporia RV is right by I-35 and US-50 so there are lots of trucks, and the trains go through nearby frequently. But it is so easy to get to and the bathhouse is warm and clean!

We celebrated Christmas a week early with our kids and had so much fun playing games, eating “finger” foods and soaking up love to last until we can hug again in the spring.
