We went back to Starbase, a spaceport where SpaceX develops and launches Starship rockets. That whole sentence sounds like science fiction. Starbase is expanding, and has lots of construction. The STARBASE letters along one building were blocked where we took pictures last year. Once again, as we drove near Starbase, our phones thought we had crossed the border.
While out on Boca Chica Beach, we did drive down to the Rio Grande, and it isn’t very wide where it meets the Gulf. We could see a park over on the Mexico side with a lighthouse. A border patrol truck was parked nearby so we didn’t want to add to his duties by staying very long. If you close-up on the first picture, you can see the lighthouse and a small covered picnic table on the Mexican beach.

We walked out on the Boca Chica Fishing Jetty at the north end of Boca Chica Beach which is across the channel from our campground on South Padre Island. The rocks are bigger and more numerous here making an easy walking path out to the end. The South Padre Island Jetty is more narrow and can be wet and slippery with algae.
