Gooseberry Falls State Park

by

Checkout time is rather late in these North Shore State Parks at 4:00pm. It really encourages one to stay and enjoy the park further before moving on. As we had electricity at the Shipwreck Creek Campground at Split Rock Lighthouse, and not at our new spot in Gooseberry Falls, we spent the day staying put for a bit. Tony was grateful to have a/c while putting in hours on a work project, and I wandered about. Catnip and I explored the campsite and visited with a neighboring camper about cats and leash tolerance. For Catnip the harness is the price she pays for going outside; for Primrose, that price is too high and outside is not exciting enough to warrant wearing one.

I also donned a swimming suit and walked the trail back to Pebble Beach to further explore Ellingson Island. One couple had snorkel gear with them—great idea in this clear water. Add that to the shopping list:)

Gooseberry Falls has a nice campground, but the campsites do not have electricity. With shade trees and cool nights, and open-window-sleeping preferred to a noisy a/c, we will be fine.
