Surprise Visit to Ft. Collins

by

We left the Wasatch Range in Utah with the plan to see how far we would get into Wyoming. Echo Canyon is where I-84 branches off of I-80 to head west and north of Salt Lake City. There are beautiful red sandstone rock formations here. Into Wyoming between Evanston and Green River there are beautiful bad lands formations. At Green River there is the beautiful Flaming Gorge area followed by the Red Desert area. You get the picture—lots of wonderful scenery to delight the eyes. And what did I take a picture of? None of these. I took a picture of a giant crane that was picking up swimming pool sized pieces of earth. It was an amazingly huge crane:)

Upon telling Dad that we were on I-80 heading home, he says, “Come on down!” So we did. It was a long day of driving, but worth it to visit family. We left I-80 at Laramie to head down scenic Highway 287 to Fort Collins. We took a quick break at Virginia Dale Community Church to stretch our legs and change drivers for the last leg of the journey.

We arrived at about 5:30 and had to use our key to get in the house. Dad was home soon there after. The house was made ready for the cats, and then the little terrors were brought in. I try to minimize the house-wrecking options by covering plants and putting away cords. The litter box was set up, and Catnip and Primrose confined for a bit to that guest room. We had garden duty and ate cherry tomatoes and a couple of strawberries while watering and harvesting at the garden Dad shares with a neighbor.
