The USS Iowa is a floating museum that is permanently docked near the cruise ship terminal and a short walk from our hotel. We ate breakfast at the hotel then stored our luggage to tour the battleship. Dad had to pay for his ticket but as Iowans, Tony and I were able to tour it for free.

We found a very large and yummy serving of tater tots at Vicky’s Doghouse stand, and lunch at Kalaveras, a nearby Mexican restaurant. Then we picked up our luggage from the hotel and walked a little over a mile to the Norwegian Jewel, our home for the next 17 days.
