About the Bug

First of all, I’m sorry for the cliff hanger in my previous blog post. Lisa is fine, or will be, after she gets over her viral infection. It has nothing to do with her cancer treatment or recovery. Thanks to those who texted her right after seeing my post to check on her well-being.

Lisa started feeling unwell Sunday evening and woke up with a very sore throat Monday morning. She became progressively worse throughout the day with the typical cold symptoms. It’s rare that Lisa gets sick and it’s typically a mild one when she gets a cold. I told her that she has a man’s cold this time. 🙂 It’s no fun being sick while on the road but on we go.

Cheyenne Celtic Fest

Lisa heard from the Irish band at Gruner Brother’s Brewery that there was to be Celtic festival in Cheyenne the day we were to pass through there, so we decided to make the stop on our way to our next campsite even though she wasn’t feeling the best. It was held at a city park and the event took place on a baseball field. There were various food vendors along with tents selling Celtic-related items and clothing. A couple of events were being held while we were there including hammer throw and weight throw competitions. It was a small festival so it didn’t take long to take in it all and before long we were back on the road.

Curt Gowdy State Park

This was a return visit to Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming. We had stopped here one night on Usain’s maiden voyage and absolutely loved it and vowed to return again. This time we reserved 2 nights in the Happy Jack Campground. Unfortunately, Lisa’s bug kept her from enjoying it. I on the other hand, took advantage of the wonderful trails and went on several solo hikes. This has to be one of my favorite state parks. We will need to return yet again when we are both healthy so we can enjoy it together.

Highlights include:

• Campground – large open campsites of all varieties
• Wildlife – lots of birds, especially bluebirds, and Wyoming ground squirrels everywhere
• Trails – many trails with variety in lengths and surfaces
