Morning Walk

Walking for exercise every morning is something we do at home and have continued on this trip. This morning we used a combination of the Shore Road and trails. Trails are definitely nicer, but after the second time I tripped over a root, we used the road. Trails are great for leisure, but not for speed walking.

Ephraim

The village of Ephraim is just outside of the park. My Aunt Carole had shared an article from AARP that touted places to see in Door County (we love travel suggestions, by the way), and Wilson’s Restaurant was listed as a must-stop, particularly for the home-brewed root beer floats. It was quite delicious!

Fish Creek

Fish Creek, on the other side of Peninsula State Park has lots of shops and restaurants so we decided that would be our afternoon adventure. We found public parking lots behind the Hat Head shop, and there were so very many hats to try at that first stop. I ended up buying a new hat, a sun bucket hat — bucket style with a wide and stiff rim. It will be better in the wind than my current favorite hat. A few more purchases later, we had a late lunch/early supper at Wild Tomato – more wood-fired pizza. We’ll have to cut back on calories at the end of the trip.

Of the towns we have walked through, Fish Creek has the most shops, and it would be our recommended spot if travel time was limited.
