From Buckeye Lake to Hocking Hills

by

Buckeye Lake

Harvest Hosts with nearby places to walk are always our favorites because we can start the day right. Buckeye Lake has a wide bike path that we could access by crossing the road from Hereinafter Cocktail Tavern. There are many lovely homes along this path that get a lakefront view, but our favorite was on the block behind the lakefront.

Hocking Hills State Park

We saw a sign for more “Major Construction” ahead on I-70, and knew, to keep our sanity, we needed to get off that interstate. Hocking Hills State Park has been on my Ohio list and would be an hour’s drive south of Buckeye Lake. Luckily there are some open camp sites for tonight and tomorrow night.

We parked at the visitor center and hiked from there because we couldn’t get into the campground until 3:00. The sandstone formations in this park are beautiful. Unfortunately the waterfalls are pretty much nonexistent this time of year, but we still enjoyed the hikes to Old Man’s Cave, Devil’s Bathtub, and other sites.
