Lake Pleasant Regional Park

by

We spent a full 2 weeks (February 10 through February 24) at Lake Pleasant Regional Park in Maricopa County, Arizona. Lake Pleasant’s notable feature is a 10,000-acre reservoir while the entire park covers more than 27,000 acres. The park is known for its many wild burros that roam throughout the area. We spent our time here with lots of hikes, a kayak outing, a few trips to neighboring towns for groceries and laundry, as well as a couple of trips into Phoenix (see Phoenix Outings post).

Burros

We did see one injured burro who looked like he could use some antibiotics. I asked at the office about it and was told that the DNR would come out and put down an injured animal. She asked me how bad it was, and I said, “He’s walking around with his family, so he’s fine.”
