I always wanted to hike in the Loess Hills State Park in western Iowa! We had a small campground nearby to ourselves with lots of rabbits (lots!) for company. We heard barred owls, coyotes yipping and howling at the moon, and saw and a doe and her fawn. The trails are through the woods and…

We traveled up to the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area. The Lewis and Clark Lake is a 25-mile long dammed portion of the MO River and very pretty. We had some sun and we had some rain — yay for ponchos. There was a (random?) parade of antique tractors that we stopped and waved…

We took a break to go to London, which was awesome! We are now back to Van Life and planning more trips. For this outing our ultimate destination is the Loess Hills in Iowa via Nebraska :). After a stop in Iowa for lunch we drove on to Louisville State Recreation Area. It was extremely…

We spent the final night of our maiden voyage in a Nebraska RV park along the Platte River by a sand pit lake. It was very hot, and we were grateful to have electricity for the air conditioner that night. Our previous nights at 7200+ elevation had no need for electrical hookups:). Usain’s batteries can…

Needing to make some phone calls, we left the Poudre canyon area where there was no cell service and headed north to Wyoming to Curt Gowdy State Park. There are rock piles on every hilltop in this part of the state—very cool. We hiked part of the mountain bike trail (you can see me pointing…

We traveled up the Poudre River canyon to a campsite that was very beautiful where the river could lull you to sleep and no phone or internet service for miles. New to us at this site — Kelly Flats Campground — bear boxes for your food. P.S. We didn’t see any bears.

A Celebration of Life was held for my mother at the Gardens on Spring Creek in Ft. Collins, CO. Most of our family was able to attend—FL and WA being the farthest travelers. It was a perfect, sunny day, and I wore my mom’s hat to the garden party! My fantastic Sister-in-Law, Susie, had these…

On June 5, my father, brother, sister-in-law and Tony took a lovely hike to Red Mountain, north of Ft. Collins. This is was one of my mother’s favorite places to hike near home, and we released her ashes in a wash here so she can become part of this beautiful place.

The first night of our maiden voyage is at Ft. Kearny State Recreational Park. Quiet, shady campground with a lovely bike trail that we rode to the Archway over I-80.

The day has come. Usain is all loaded for its maiden voyage to Colorado. Looks to be a beautiful travel day.
